Review: NV Josh Cellars Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine

You probably know Josh Cellars best as a simple, affordable, and usually workable purveyor of simple California chardonnays and cabernet sauvignons that are staples of banquet halls and wedding venues. But you may be surprised that Josh is branching out not just overseas, but into non-alcoholic products, too.

Josh Cellars Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine is an Italian product, but little additional information is provided about its construction. The wine is quite sweet — with 34 grams of sugar per bottle — and it shows right away on a moderately sugary and quite fruity palate that evokes notes of sweet pears and Honeycrisp apples from the start. Breathe deep into the glass after the sweetness settles down and you’ll likely catch a growing floral quality, with notes of jasmine and honeysuckle evident. Increasingly rich on the palate, the finish leads to lemon cookies and a spritz of perfume.

It may really be glorified fizzy grape juice, but in this category I can raise few complaints.
