Remember when r/alcohol felt like a dimly lit speakeasy? Jazz playing softly in the background, someone in the corner sipping a well crafted Old Fashioned while discussing the notes of a 12 year scotch?

Yeah… now it’s 3 a.m., someone just bonged Fireball out of a traffic cone, and a shirtless raccoon is wrestling a possum over the last White Claw in the kiddie pool.

The bartenders have all quit. The regulars have gone quiet. And someone replaced the cocktail recipes with memes of people pouring tequila into cereal.

Don’t get me wrong I love the chaos. I just didn’t expect to see someone shotgun a Four Loko while screaming “I AM THE NIGHT” and riding a stolen Roomba through the comments section.

Is it the algorithm? Did we all just go feral at the same time? Or are the raccoons… winning?
