My younger sister waited until 21 to drink honestly, I admire her discipline
I started drinking casually at 17. Nothing crazy just parties, college hangouts, and sneaking drinks at get-togethers. At the time, it felt normal. Everyone I knew was doing it, and I didn’t think twice.
My parents weren’t thrilled about it. They didn’t ban it, but they made it clear they weren’t okay with underage drinking. I pushed the boundary more than once.
What’s interesting is that my younger sister, who saw all this growing up, made a decision to wait. She literally didn’t touch a drop of alcohol until her 21st birthday even when her friends were drinking, even when it was “cool” to do it. No weed, no vapes, nothing.
She said it was out of respect for our parents and wanting to stay in control of herself. I used to tease her for being too strict on herself, but honestly? Looking back now, I kind of admire the self-control she had. That kind of discipline is rare, especially when you’re young and surrounded by pressure.
Just thought I’d share.
