Review: 21 Seeds Flavored Tequilas – Complete Lineup (Updated 2025)

21 Seeds is a now well-established brand of flavored tequila made with all-natural fruit infusions. Available in three flavors — Valencia Orange, Grapefruit Hibiscus, and Cucumber Jalapeño — the tequila is “cultivated from a proprietary blend of agaves from the lowland and highland regions of Jalisco” and bottled without the addition of high fructose corn syrup. It’s unclear if the base tequila is 100% agave; it doesn’t indicate either way on the bottle or in the marketing collateral.

The spirits are designed “for Her by Her,” according to the company, and while I’m a he/him, I’m giving them a try anyway.

In 2025, this review was updated from our coverage of just the Valencia Orange expression (in 2021) to include all three 21 Seeds expressions.

All expressions are 70 proof. NOM 1438.

21 Seeds Tequila Valencia Orange Review

On the nose: Exceptionally strong orange, tangerine-sweet, with no real evidence of the tequila underpinnings in the mix. Breathe deep and you get… a hint of lemon, vaguely floral. The palate is quite sweet, with a flood of orange followed by some vanilla and marshmallow notes. A sprinkle of green herbs is the only hint that this is tequila, not vodka — or possibly triple sec. If overwhelming orange character from start to finish is what you’re after, well, you found it. Valencia Orange feels like it’s tailor-made for margaritas (and you can skip the orange liqueur) — and little else that I can fathom. 21 Seeds Tequila Grapefruit Hibiscus Review

This is the go-to tequila my wife uses for ranch water cocktails, and it’s a great pick for margaritas and other fruit-forward tequila drinks, too. Lightly sweet with strong grapefruit overtones, served neat the tequila recalls flat Squirt soda with a squeeze of lime to add some nuance. The hibiscus is readily evident on both nose and palate, but it is nuanced, lacking the pungent floral/perfumed quality that hibiscus-heavy beverages can often have. Those subtle floral notes are responsible for elevating this expression beyond the one-note character that the Valencia Orange seems to have, and it also helps to tame any overt booziness from rearing its head. Good stuff. A

21 Seeds Tequila Cucumber Jalapeno Review

Surprisingly pungent on the nose, quite green in both vegetal and peppery ways. With time in glass it’s the cucumber that comes to dominate, offering a full-on spa water experience. The palate is sweeter than expected, with a surprising milk chocolate note and some almond elements up front. The peppery jalapeno roars back into focus quickly, though, balancing out any sweeter qualities with a racy but not overwhelming amount of spice. Earthy on the finish, the cucumber is unmistakable, though somewhat blunt. Spicy margarita fodder, to be sure. B+
