How to build tolerance

Back in my early 20s I went thru major depression which helped me with tolerance cuz I didn’t want to feel anything. I was able to do 9 shots of crown neat in one sitting and I think like 12 or so straight shots of vodka before passing out. I also woke up and had a beer before going to class every day for about 2 weeks. Probably not as impressive as any of you guys. in any case, I collected alcohol but stopped drinking for a while and now even small can of beer gets me buzzed. And soju which to me used to be just like water. I wanna know how to rebuild my tolerance. Small beets every day (e.g. micro doses of lower proof alcohol) or multiple shots of higher proof spirits spaced out throughout the week?
