Review: Domaine Bousquet Gaia Releases, Spring 2025 Releases

While we review and enjoy offerings from Domaine Bousquet at a regular frequency, it’s been a few years since we’ve tried anything from the Gaia branch of their portfolio. A refresher on Gaia: These wines are 100% organic and grown at an altitude of 1,200 meters in the foothills of the Andes, where cooler temperatures promote optimal grape development. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels anywhere from eight to 10 months.

2022 Domaine Bousquet Organic Gaia Malbec – Loads of red fruit and violet, followed with time by raspberry and blackberry on the finish. There’s quite a bit of oak running throughout, providing a mild amount of spice and dimension. It never strays too far from the assignment of being a classic Malbec from Mendoza. It’s still the leader of Team Gaia and a solid buy, even with the slight price increase. A- / $25

2022 Domaine Bousquet Organic Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon – Restrained at first with notes of strawberry, currant, and cherry, finishing with layers of black peppercorn, graphite, and spice. Ample acidity and tannins frame this full-bodied bottle nicely; decanting this for half an hour or longer is the correct move. B+ / $25

2022 Domaine Bousquet Organic Pinot Noir Rosé – Vibrant and lively, with a soft nose of orange zest, strawberry, and white flowers that oscillates gently with every sip. The strawberry influence remains dominant but is tempered by some minerality towards the conclusion. There’s mild complexity here, but it also remains highly approachable and easy-drinking. All of this to say: Bousquet loves its rosé and makes it okay, but there isn’t a way I wouldn’t drink this all day. B+ / $20
