Does this actually constitute an addiction or not?

Assuming that an individual with untreated major depressive disorder (MDD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) begins drinking to the point of intoxication on a regular basis (1 to 2 times per week) for 5 months, and then, in an 8-week span, drinks to the point that they black out in their home (without sustaining even minor injuries or making a mess of the home) on four separate occasions, after which they are able to completely abstain from drinking alcohol (cold turkey) without any cravings or withdrawal symptoms and without the need for hospitalization, rehabilitation, or counseling (and has remained sober for the past two years), would you say the individual’s behavior described above would, according to strict diagnostic criteria, constitute an addition (alcohol dependence) or alcohol use disorder?
