Running Liquor through Brita Filter?

I’ve seen countless posts online and videos about how running cheap vodka through a water filter makes it just taste like water, despite keeping the same alcohol content, so I got curious and wanted to try it with something different.

I ran approximately 1 shot of 110 proof Absinthe through my filter, and despite a slight scent, it looks and tastes exactly like pure water. Anyone have any more knowledge or information on this? Because I would have thought that something as strong as Absinthe would still retain some flavor, color, or even a little bit of burn, but it didn’t at all.

Did I do something wrong? Could it just be that there is still some water left in the filter from before I poured the Absinthe? Or is running your liquor through a water filter really that much of a life hack?
