So.. what exactly do they mean when they say “sweet” bourbon.

Suffice to say, I had the luxury of tasting something that wasnt from a gas station a bit ago. Buddy told me something from Old Forge was “basically drinking cake”. As an avid cake and pie enjoyer and person who quite enjoys a good soda based cocktail like a Paloma, color me shocked when it was indeed NOT like drinking a cake. More like lighter fluid, as per the standard we all know and like.

Now I ask, what exactly are people meaning when they say they have a lovely sweet bourbon, apart from listing generic dentist candy like butterscotch drops and baking spice, I am expecting to be shoveling cake frosting down my mouth but the experiences I keep having with these “sweet” bourbons couldn’t be further from the description.
