How can I avoid interrupted sleep when drinking?
I don’t drink often. And I also don’t drink large amounts because I’m a complete lightweight. On average, I’ll have a glass of wine a week. And then maybe once every other month or so I’ll have a “big” night out.
It doesn’t happen every time I drink but I’d say about half the time (even if I just have one glass of wine) where I wake up at around 3am and just cannot go back to sleep. Sleep deprivation is my hangover and it’s honestly the worst.
I know the science behind why it happens but is there any way to prevent it? I drink loads of water while I drink alcohol, will drink electrolytes and headache tablets before going to bed, and if it’s a bigger night I’ll even take a quarter of a Xanor (mild Xanax). The Xanor usually helps. But is there anything else I could do to help my sleep cycle when I’m having the occasional glass of wine with dinner?
