Advice needed: explaining alcohol consumption to parents
Okay, so me (26m) and my finance (26m) live alone and we like to host friends over. I have a fully stocked bar (think 60+ unique bottles) and all the mixings. It gets used once or twice a month when we have people over.
Me and my finance don’t drink that much. I get paid on the 5th of the month and I go to the liquor store, buy a 12 bottle mixed case of wine (we get 15% of when buying a case) and that lasts us a whole month, usually with a bottle or two left over. We don’t touch the bar when we are alone, except for very rare occasions (example: I love a good scotch, so when I got promoted I poured myself a single shot of blue label).
Now, my mom(ultra conservative, never touched alcohol) was in town visiting and saw our bar and FREAKED out. I tried to explain that we don’t drink very often and she wasn’t having it.
The question is: how would you put in to terms she might understand that I am a very light drinker and my habits are of absolutely no concern for my health, and the devil isn’t trying to turn me into a demon or whatever stupid shit she believes?
