Am i going a little overboard on the drinking?

So I am 17, a year under the legal limit. But i started when i just turned 16. I drink during the summer whenever there is a party so sometimes it may be once in a few weeks or maybe even 2 days in a row. During the school year is when i lock myself in and don’t really drink much unless it’s new years which is my exception. When i say drink i mean drinking with my buddies who i’ve known since my elementary years and we always do it in a safe environment where we know we’ll be safe.
