How bad is one beer after work, really?
I have heard conflicting opinions on the effects of daily drinking. Looking to get some more data points.
I, 24f, have a beer most evenings, generally a few hours before going to sleep. I really enjoy craft beer, so I like to try new beers, often with dinner or while cooking.
I have heard opinions ranging from a singular drink after work being POSITIVE for your overall health to having a singular drink after work will do irreversible damage to your health and constitutes you as a functional alcoholic. I am trying to determine if there is definitive evidence either way so that I can decide if I should lessen the frequency.
People used to drink more beer/wine than water, but they also used to die at 45, so maybe that’s not the best reference..
About once a month I will have two beers on a weeknight, and I probably “go out” on the weekends and have 4-5 drinks once or twice a month, on average. I know that having more than 2-3 drinks in a sitting is well accepted as being unhealthy—just providing this as context for my habits as I suspect people will comment on how daily drinking can lead to regular binge drinking.
