Review: The Busker Small Batch Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey

When we first reviewed The Busker Irish Whiskey line in 2021 we found their Single Pot Still variety our favorite of their four offerings. Three years later, we’re excited to try Busker’s newest release, which is a Small Batch version of that Single Pot Still. The whiskey does not have an age statement, but it was aged in first-fill bourbon casks and then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. It’s a pleasure to note that this new release, as with Busker’s previous offerings, carries a modest price tag. Let’s give it a try.

On the nose and palate, the whiskey shows lovely, integrated notes of lightly sweet sherry, orange peel, cereal malt, and black pepper. With additional sips, the sherry character becomes deeper and more prominent, but not overpowering, following through into the medium length finish. Despite clocking in at over 90 proof, the whiskey is dangerously drinkable and has virtually no heat at all. While it’s similar to Busker’s regular Single Pot Still offering, it shows more depth of flavor from start to finish and is worth the higher price tag. In fact, at this price point, I can’t think of a better Irish whiskey. It’s definitely worth tracking down.

92.6 proof.
