Does this sound like an alcoholic

One of my family members has a pretty bad relationship with alcohol, and I’m wondering if their behaviour could be considered alcoholism. Here’s some of the stuff they do

Small attempts at concealing the amount of alcohol being drunk – (buying a bottle of wine, drinking it and replacing the wine bottle in the cabinet empty to make it look like there’s some still left, then going to the shop the next day to buy the same bottle and switching the empty one with the new one, rinse and repeat)

Drinking much less when in the presence of spouse than when alone

When alone, drinking a bottle of wine per night and passing out on the couch

From what I can tell, they don’t seem to experience a whole lot of severe withdrawals, they’re usually very loud, phlegmy and coughing in the morning, but seem fine the rest of the day, however I think they also take ginger tablets for nausea, but I can’t be sure. This person is approaching retirement age, do you think this is something to really be concerned about and needs action now?

I know when I type it out it seems really bad, if you have any suggestions for what I should do, please let me know, as I’m not immediate family
