Stocking Wine & Spirits (Alcohol)

Hello I am a subcontractor and i do small jobs for different stores. I have a customer who wants some risers(table legs) exchanged out for taller ones. However they still have their merchandise of wine and alcohol on the display table. They want me to remove their alcohol and restock it back on the table, approximately 200 bottles. I am in California and I know laws are a little different here, but I am wondering if this is legal? Can I legally remove and stock their alcohol? Any help is greatly appreciated.
