Blacking out from drinking

I have a tendency to black out whenever I drink socially. It would happen occasionally during college, maybe 3-4 times a year. Now that I’m older and about 4 years post grad I’ve realize that I keep blacking out more often. I don’t drink that often due to wanting to lose weight and I don’t necessarily have a “problem” with not drinking either. I just feel like I’m a bad drinker :/. I go from feeling “Not too tipsy at all” straight to “Waking up in my bed the next day confused.” Recently I’ve been making very stupid decisions while blacked out that have left me mortified and hurt the feelings of someone I love. Any suggestions on how I can reduce my chances of blacking out? Or how I can get better at recognizing where I am drunk-wise so that I can slow myself down? I feel like my excitement of socializing and being around people absolutely clouds my senses when it comes to drinking.
