Struggling with insomnia after quitting alcohol even with sleeping pills. When this improves?
Hi friends!
I’m reaching out for some positive and success stories from the community about how did things ended for you after few months of having similar experiences.
I have been struggling since I stopped alcohol 2 months ago. I went thru bad withdrawals, insomnia being the main symptom (no sleep at all). Since then I’ve been taking supplements such as magnesium glycinate, gaba, l-theanine, tryptophan and melatonin. While most nights it knocks me out and others It takes me a while to fall asleep, luckily I’m able to sleep but no more than 3 hours and then I’m awake the whole night. I already have generalized anxiety and this has created more of it around the situation. Sometimes, I feel hopeless that this will be the rest of my life.
I’m doing the best I can in terms of continue being sober, eating well, exercising, CBT, etc etc, but I’m having a hard time stop thinking about the worse that could happen sine I haven’t seen significant improvements. When did you start seeing improvement? Were you taking something to help you sleep? How long? Did you come out of it at some point? Sorry for grumble here. Looking for some words of hope and support here!
Wishing you the best of luck! Thank you in advance!
