Drinking and not getting drunk?
Hi
Before I say anything I’d like to clarify that 1. I rarely drink. Maybe once or twice a month. And when I do drink, I do not drink heavily. 2. I am not on any medications. 3. I have no illnesses / conditions that I know of.
I went out tonight with some friends as they were back from uni, and we had drinks. No matter how much I drank, I felt nothing.
Initially, we had some food, I just had chips as I wasn’t that hungry, and I had a rum and coke.
I then, throughout the night, which was roughly 5 hours, had 9 shots, 7 cocktails, and 2 rum and cokes including the one I had with our food.
I do not feel drunk. I feel completely sober. I do however now have a headache, my stomach hurts badly, I started sweating profusely, and feeling extremely sick. I have just got home, thrown up everything I ate, and come to bed.
I’m so confused as to how this happens? I’ve heard of it happening to people who have just started new medication or people who drink heavily regularly, but as I said, I drink very rarely and I don’t take any medications.
I’m a perfectly healthy 140lb woman, 21, I ate a normal amount today, and did a good healthy amount of exercise. I drank 2 weeks ago and got drunk normally, and had a good night. But tonight I just feel violently ill and completely sober after 18 drinks.
Can anyone explain??
