Review: Karbach Free & Easy Non-Alcoholic Belgian-Style White

Making a good Belgian white is tricky enough. Now make it without alcohol.

Karbach’s rendition of an NA Belgian pulls it off fairly well: Boldly flavored with lemon, orange, and that inimitable coriander character, the palate is bright and acidic — like it’s already had the orange slice expressed and dropped into the glass. The body doesn’t quite nail the foamy chewiness of a Belgian witbier — in fact, the beer is wholly transparent and not at all hazy. Pulling that off without alcohol is tough to do, so I won’t hold the fairly thin body against them too heavily and instead focus on the depth of flavor they’ve managed to eke out here. As an NA offering, I like it better than most pilsner-style products.
