What is the difference between cheap and expensive Vodka.

Im’a student and i usually buy a cheap 5.49€ Vodka and that tastes like just ethanol with water, it’s same for gin i understand buying expensive whiskeys,Rums and Wines but Vodka and Gin idk. Can someone explain it to me ?
