Weird behaviour after drinking – is drunk sleep walking a thing?
A few times now my partner has been drinking, gone to sleep then woke up not long after and done some weird shit, then falls back to sleep and can’t remember it.
To me if feels like more than just regular drunk confusion.
This evening he’d had some drinks, come home, gone to bed. I’ve seemingly woken him up when I’ve gone to bed. He gets up to pee, but turns the bedroom light on on hsu way out. I tell him to turn it off, but he’s acting like his clothes are caught on the bedroom door handle, then starts hitting the door saying he’s trying to turn off the light. He finally gets it and then suddenly he’s gone out the flat door into the communal corridor (the front door is opposite our bedroom door). I jump out of bed and find him trying to get into our next doors neighbours flat, and have to drag him back while he’s super confused asking how to get in the door. I manage to get him to the bathroom to pee, and he goes back to bed.
I’m freaking out. I’m so glad he didn’t run outside (we’re ground floor) and glad the neighbours didn’t open their door! But omg what is going on here?
He’s had a couple of other similar events before (one time in a hotel he nearly escaped the room into the hotel corridor while he was butt naked, then when he was in the bathroom was banging around in the dark trying to get water out of a bottle of moisturiser) and it’s like he’s drunk sleep walking – but he seems awake. He seems me and replies to me but it’s like he’s not really there. He’s obviously confused and distressed in the moment.
Is this a thing?
It really shakes me up and I’m holding back tears because it’s so freaking weird and not normal. He’s so completely confused over things that he wouldn’t normally be before he’d gone to sleep. It’s not his usual drunk behaviour.
It really concerns me because what if something happens while I’m not here, or something bad happens and he has no idea what’s going on?
Anyone else have similar experiences?
