mom says i smell like alcohol any time i drink, even if it’s just a bit

sometimes when i go to my girlfriends house we drink a little (1-3 shots). however after i get home some time later, (i’m feeling sober by the time i’m driving), my mom always says to me that i smell like alcohol, even though i brush my teeth. why does she smell it on me? my parents are super against alcohol and will be pissed if they find out i was drinking anything at all. what can i do to make sure i don’t smell like anything?
