In your opinion, how much is really too much?

Hello, i’m a 23 y/o male who love beer, wine and whiskey. I always tought that the supposed “2-3 drinks a week to be healthy” is completely ridiculous, at this point just don’t drink at all? What’s the point of drinking if it’s not to enjoy 4-6 beers at a time or 2-3 glass of wine/ whiskey at a time? Well that’s my pov. Those’s days i drink ~3 days a week (hanging out with friends). Everytime we drink, i drink an average of 6-12 beers (5%) or 1L bottle of wine, or 3 3oz glass of whiskey.

I’m still concerned for my health tho, because “studies say’s” that 3 drinks a week is the healthy way.

One of my friend is a legit alcoholic, he been drinking on average 6-12 beers (6% +) EVERYDAY or at least 5 days a week for the last year and a half, dude is stressing me the f up, i don’t even understand how he can do that. Anyway, i know what my friend is doing is terrible for him, that’s why i stopped drinking with that friend. EDIT: he would, sometimes, drink a 10 beers at home before we meet at the bar where he would drink 6 more, then go back to his home to drink the remaining of his 12 pack, that’s what made me quit drinking with him, i don’t want to encourage this kind of habits for him. I’ve heard stories of ex alcoholic who been drinking like my friend for 10 years before having to “stop or die”, is that even possible?! Both the studies and the ex alcoholic stories sounds ridiculous to me.

So here is my question: in your humble opinions, do you think i can keep hanging out with my friends 3 times a weeks drinking ~ 8 beers a night while i’m young? Or am just ruining my health, just like my friend does but at a slower rate?

Thank you
