how much to get blackout?

for a 21 year old man who’s about 5”9 and average weight and claims to have a “high tolerance” bc they drink a lot, how much would it take to get blackout? like would it make sense for them to get blackout to the point of not remembering most of the night from 9 shots over the course of 2+ hours?
