Unconditional old fashioned?

I have really gotten a love for the humble old fashioned, it has been a favorite for over 100 years after all!

BUT I’m growing a bit tired drinking it, do you guys have any tips or secrets how to spice it up?

Maybe adding some unconditional ingredients would spice it up? Or maybe use a bit of extra spirits (none whisky) along with the whisky?

The recipe for an old fashioned is not written in stone, no matter what the older snobby gentleman at the pub says.
