Review: Agavales Tequila Blanco

I will be honest with this one: This was the cheapest 100% agave blanco tequila that I could find that was available in a liter format (which I needed for another project for Wired).

The tequila is certainly harmless, with expressive lemon notes on the nose, followed by gentle, herbal agave and a few white pepper grinds. A note of white chocolate is suggested with time in glass, but this is quite mild. The palate has a creaminess to it that one wouldn’t expect at this price point, again showcasing a pinch of ground pepper, some green pepper later on, and a finish that returns to agave, tempered with touches of baking spice, particularly cinnamon.

All told my notes are in line with what I mentioned in the above-linked article — and while it’s hardly drowning in complexity, given the insane price tag, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick this up by the handle if I was making frozen margaritas for a crowd.
