New alcohol tastes great at first then quickly becomes terrible, unbearable, and nauseating?
Hello everyone. I’m 21 (new-ish) to drinking, and I have a problem. Many people say you have to acquire a taste for alcohol, but for me, it’s kinda the opposite for ones I like. I’ll give an example. Yago wine used to be amazing when I first had it. I’d be thirsty and just guzzle it down like fruit juice. The next time I bought some was alright. After that, I bought it and couldn’t stomach the taste and had to give it away. That, I admit, was after throwing up the last time I had it so you can say it’s because of that, but onto my only other example so far. Recently, I got turned onto Johny Bootleggers from the gas station (specifically the blue raspberry one). Kinda weird taste, but great aftertaste. First five 7oz bottles I ever drank of it, very nice. The other day I bought some more of it and now it’s so bad I have to force myself to drink it, and would rather not have to than be drunk (as great as being drunk is).
What is wrong with me? Is it genetics? Is it the fact that a few years ago I overdosed on acetaminophen which effected my liver (but after the whole ordeal was over, my liver levels went back to normal with no permanent damage, and I don’t even know how that’d cause my current problem)? Is it because one time I threw up to one specific wine and now repeated expose to any, no matter how positive, gradually results in an aversion to the alcohol?
This seems to be an odd yet universal problem for me. I heard people say “find an alcohol you like”, but it’s hard because I have to keep switching alcohols due to this problem, and every time I switch I’m most likely not gonna like the taste of it anyway (since I don’t like the taste of most alcohol anyway).
