drinking slowly makes me sick
So, this is really weird. When I drin, I tend to drink one after another. Not quickly, really. I mean, it’ll take me like 30-35 minutes to finish a single or 40-45 minutes to finish a double, and then I’ll just make my next one.
Well, I’m not always great at recognizing when to stop, and so sometimes, my husband will pace me. But I’m finding that, when I’m being paced and I have gaps of time between drinks (like, longer than just 10-15 minutes), I just get sick.
Like, last night, we went to a bar to meet one of his friends and had a shot there. Then we came home and had another, probably 25 minutes later. Then, we had our third maybe 30 minutes later. And finally a fourth another 30-40 minutes later. By that time, I just felt incredibly nauseated and had a severe headache and had to lie down. (But I wasn’t drunk; maybe slightly tipsy.)
Or another time, I had a drink (not a shot) and then an hour later had another and an hour and a half later had another, and again, I felt super nauseated and had a headache and had to lie down the rest of the evening. (This time, I wasn’t intoxicated at all bc of the long gaps between drinks.)
But if I have 4 drinks over a 3h period, where I’m drinking them throughout that time period, I don’t get sick at all.
It seems to be the gaps of time between drinks that correlate to the times when I feel sick. Does anyone else have that experience? I’m wondering if I’ve always been like this and that’s why I drink em back to back instead of spread out in the first place.
(Extra info: I drink every 2-3 days, so it’s not a matter of withdrawal or anything. It really seems like it’s the timing of the drinks that determines whether I feel sick or not.)
