Drink Texas Whiskey with Us in Austin on April 22, 2023
Whiskey shows tend to showcase hooch from everywhere in the world. But at the 6th Annual Texas Whiskey Festival, the focus is on one thing and one thing alone: Whiskey made in Texas.
Turns out there’s a lot more of it than I’d imagined, with over 35 distilleries being represented and pouring their wares — more than 70 whiskeys being served in total. Tickets are a very reasonable $89 for the Saturday tasting event — which stretches from 5:30pm to 10pm, with $135 VIP “single barrel” tickets getting you in an hour early and gaining you access to special VIP pours, bites in the VIP building, and a complimentary cigar from Ohana Nui. Pro tip: You can bring your own Glencairn or preorder a mini-Glen for use during the event.
Regular ticket holders won’t go hungry, though: Your ticket includes a $10 food voucher from food trucks including Slab BBQ and CraigO’s Pizza & Pastaria. Best of all is that in true Texas fashion, the event is held on a ranch just outside of Austin: A recreation of Texas Hill Country from the early 1900s that’s used for events, weddings, and other old-timey happenings… like drinking whiskey.
If walking around in your boots isn’t your jam, check out the Friday Night sit-down dinner, which includes rare and unique pours and food from Verdes Catering. $100 gets you in to what’s sure to be a supper to remember.
