Kindled and healed

I was wondering if anyone who has been kindled, for example who had withdrawals after just a few drinks or days of drinking, has ever had that go away.

I always hear the kindling effect is permanent, but would love to hear from anyone who has experienced a decline.

I did hear of one person who was getting shakes/wd symptoms from a few drinks and waited 7 years. He stated that he is now able to drink (though only does so about twice a year)
