Review: Fever-Tree Blood Orange Ginger Beer

Take Orange Crush and mix it with Fever-Tree’s winning ginger beer and you’ve got this unique yet versatile mixer, which was created in partnership with Maker’s Mark for its Blood Orange Kentucky Mule (1 part bourbon, 3 parts mixer).

It doesn’t particularly evoke the Italian blood oranges with which it is made, but rather a sweeter, naval orange, coming across as appropriately juicy and bright on the tongue. It takes a couple of seconds for the ginger to kick in, and when it does it all but washes away the sweet, orange attack. That trademark ginger heat, laden with nasal-clearing spice, remains in full force for a solid 15-20 seconds, depending on what you’re mixing with. I, for one, find it perfectly approachable straight from the bottle.

B+ / $5 per four-pack of 200ml bottles
