Why do people like alcohol?

Let me start off by saying I know this is probably the worst sub to ask this in and this is not meant to provoke anyone but I’m genuinely wondering because maybe I’m missing something.

I absolutely hate alcohol. I hate the taste and I hate the smell to the point I’m convinced people don’t actually enjoy it, they just drink it either to fit in with other people or to get drunk due to alcoholism or to forget about something (trauma, past experiences, present).

Any time I tasted alcohol it tasted exactly the same regardless if I tried whiskey, rum, gin, Jager, beer, wine, any cocktail, vodka… It tastes like nail polish or rubbing alcohol and it’s just bitter and unpleasant.

Not to mention every time I drink alcohol, almost immediately I have to go to the toilet to do a really bad number 2.

I even tried mixing drinks, I had mixed drinks in many bars or tried friends drinks and every single time they all taste the same even when they tell me “you can’t even taste the alcohol in this”.

What am I missing? Could this be a condition especially cause I have to go to the toilet immediately when drinking alcohol? Or is alcohol just one of these things I don’t like but I find it strange because every single person I know drinks and gets drunk regularly and they seem to enjoy it.
