How to drink bourbon without almost puking?

I got a bottle of Jim Beam Bourbon. It’s my first ever bottle and I just despise the taste. I’ll swallow and immediately start gagging. I want to be able to enjoy this stuff and I love the buzz it gives me.

How do I drink this stuff?
